Possibly, but it needs planning. Our network has very few officers in the Western Isles, so cover in the HS area is arranged on request, usually with officers travelling from the mainland, and the control room confirms what is achievable before you book.
The HS postcode area covers the Outer Hebrides, from Lewis and Harris in the north through the Uists to Barra. Stornoway is the main town and the administrative and commercial centre, with a working harbour, fishing and marine businesses, and a ferry link to Ullapool on the mainland. The wider islands depend on crofting, fishing, aquaculture, tourism and the Harris Tweed industry, and there has been growing interest in renewable energy projects. Sites that need security here are usually tied to a specific project: a construction or infrastructure job, a marine or energy installation, a one-off event, or an empty building that has to be protected for a fixed period.
We want to be clear about how this works. Fewer than five officers in our network live in the HS area, so any booking means bringing officers across by ferry or by air, arranging accommodation, and building a rota around crossing times. Weather can disrupt sailings and flights, which affects handovers. For those reasons, short-notice and single-shift bookings are rarely practical, while planned, multi-day deployments can be. If we take a booking, the officers hold the appropriate SIA licence, are screened to BS 7858, and report through the client app with GPS clock-in, welfare check-calls and a live occurrence log.
Stornoway is the only practical base for most bookings in the HS area, being reachable by the Ullapool ferry and by scheduled flights. Sites elsewhere on Lewis, or on Harris, the Uists and Barra, involve further road and ferry travel and need to be looked at individually. Because officers will normally come from the mainland Highlands or Central Belt, the control room plans rotas around ferry timetables, rest periods and accommodation, and agrees contingency arrangements with you in case a crossing is cancelled.
