Cover in the PH area can be arranged, but very few officers in our network live here, so bookings are planned from neighbouring areas and confirmed by the control room before you commit.
The PH postcode runs from Perth, at the gateway to the Highlands, north and west through some of the most sparsely populated parts of Scotland. Perth itself has a city centre, retail parks, a hospital and business units close to the M90 and A9, and nearby towns such as Crieff, Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Coupar Angus and Alyth serve rich farmland, including soft fruit growing around Blairgowrie. Along the A9, Pitlochry, Aberfeldy and Kingussie depend heavily on tourism, and Fort William in the far west is a centre for outdoor activity, with Grantown-on-Spey on the edge of the Cairngorms.
We want to be clear about what is realistic. Our partner network currently has fewer than five officers living in this area, and we have not completed shifts here yet. Cover is therefore arranged from neighbouring areas such as Dundee, Fife, Stirling and Glasgow, and travel times on Highland roads can be long. Perth and nearby towns are the most practical; remote sites need advance planning. Every officer holds the SIA licence for the role and is screened to BS 7858, and the client app still provides GPS clock-in, check-calls and a live log.
Perth is the most practical place for us to provide cover in PH, followed by nearby towns such as Auchterarder, Crieff and Blairgowrie, which can be reached from the Dundee, Fife and Stirling side of the network. Pitlochry is further up the A9 and needs advance notice. Kingussie and Fort William are remote for our current network, so the control room will discuss whether cover is feasible, and how long it would take to arrange, before any booking is confirmed. Regular, planned work is far easier to staff here than one-off urgent requests.
