Dundee sits on the north bank of the Tay, with the Tay Road Bridge linking it to Fife and the A90 running north towards Aberdeen. The city has two universities, a working port and a waterfront that has been heavily redeveloped over recent years, so construction, student accommodation and city-centre retail all feature in the requests we see. Beyond the city, Angus is a mix of coastal towns and farmland. Arbroath and Montrose have harbours and industrial estates, Montrose has a port serving the offshore sector, and Forfar, Brechin and Kirriemuir are market towns surrounded by soft fruit and arable farming. Carnoustie is known worldwide for golf and hosts major tournaments.
A number of officers from our partner network live in the DD area, which gives us a realistic base to work from for Dundee and the nearby towns. We have not yet completed booked work in the area, so each request is arranged through the network and confirmed by the control room before we commit to it. Tayside officers are licensed by the SIA for the work they do and are screened in line with BS 7858. Arbroath and Carnoustie are reached along the A92 coast road, while Forfar and Kirriemuir are served via the A90 and A926. Montrose, Brechin and Inverbervie are further north, so the control room will check travel times and officer availability before confirming cover there.
