Yes, cover can be arranged in the ML area, but we only have a small number of officers based in Lanarkshire, so most bookings are staffed from the wider network around Glasgow and confirmed by the control room when you book.
The ML postcode covers much of North and South Lanarkshire: the larger towns of Motherwell, Wishaw, Hamilton, Airdrie and Coatbridge, Bellshill and Larkhall between them, and a more rural stretch south to Lanark and Biggar in the Clyde valley. The M8 and M74 both run through the area, which has encouraged distribution and manufacturing sites close to the motorways, while former industrial land in several towns is being cleared for housing and business use. Town centres, retail parks, hospitals and colleges add to the range of premises that need cover.
We want to be straightforward about capacity. Our partner network has fewer than five officers living in this area at the moment, and we have not yet completed shifts here. Bookings are therefore arranged by drawing on officers from neighbouring areas such as Glasgow, Falkirk and Edinburgh, with the control room checking availability and travel before anything is confirmed. Every officer holds the SIA licence the role requires and is screened to BS 7858, and you still get GPS clock-in, welfare check-calls and a live occurrence log through the client app.
Because few officers in our network live in Lanarkshire, cover is planned rather than instant. Motherwell, Hamilton, Bellshill and Coatbridge are the easiest towns to reach from the Glasgow side using the M8 and M74, and Airdrie and Wishaw are also realistic for planned shifts. Lanark and Biggar are further south and more rural, so they need the most notice. Ongoing contracts are easier to staff than one-off urgent requests.
