Hull's economy is built around the Humber. The port handles freight and passenger ferries, the riverside has chemicals, food manufacturing and engineering, and the area has become a centre for offshore wind manufacturing and servicing. That combination produces a steady demand for gatehouse officers, yard patrols and night cover on large industrial plots. The city also has a university and a major hospital, a busy retail and leisure centre around the marina and old town, and plenty of older commercial buildings awaiting new uses. Beyond the city, Beverley is a historic market town with a racecourse, Hessle sits at the northern end of the Humber Bridge, and the Holderness coast runs down through Hornsea and Withernsea.
