The BN area follows the Sussex coast from Littlehampton and Arundel in the west, through Worthing, Shoreham-by-Sea and Brighton & Hove, to Newhaven, Seaford and Eastbourne in the east, with Lewes and Hailsham inland. Brighton has a large night-time economy, two universities, a big student population and a city centre full of shops and venues. Shoreham and Newhaven are working ports, the latter with a ferry service to France, and the A27 links the whole strip together. The South Downs press close behind, so development tends to be squeezed into existing towns.
Our network already covers sites across the area, mostly static guarding, and a fair number of officers live along the coast. That makes regular rostered cover realistic in Brighton, Hove and Worthing in particular. Requests here range from shop and venue security to overnight guarding of construction projects in tight town-centre plots and protection of empty commercial buildings. Summer and university term dates both affect demand along the coast, so for weekend venue work or student blocks it pays to book well ahead of the busy weeks.
Brighton & Hove, Worthing, Shoreham-by-Sea and Lewes are where our network's officers are most concentrated, so cover there is usually the quickest to confirm. Eastbourne, Seaford, Newhaven and Littlehampton are also covered, with the control room checking travel along the A27 before confirming. Neighbouring areas such as Crawley and Tunbridge Wells add depth for bigger or short-notice requirements. Each shift is confirmed in advance, and for longer contracts we aim to keep the same officers so they know the site and its regular visitors.
