Security in Stevenage

SG straddles north Hertfordshire and east Bedfordshire along the A1(M). Stevenage is a post-war new town with a business base in engineering, aerospace and life sciences, Letchworth Garden City has long-established industrial estates, and Hitchin, Hertford and Ware are busy market towns with retail and office space. North of Stotfold the area turns towards Biggleswade, Sandy and Potton, where farming, horticulture and roadside distribution along the A1 are more typical. Housing growth across the area has also brought a steady stream of new-build construction sites that need overnight cover, along with trade counters and storage yards close to the motorway junctions.

To be clear about the position here: our network already covers sites in the area, mostly on night shifts, but fewer than five of our officers actually live in SG. Officers are usually drawn from the surrounding Luton, St Albans, Enfield, Cambridge and Milton Keynes areas, which are within reasonable driving distance of most SG towns. That makes advance booking more reliable than same-day requests. Once a shift is confirmed it works the same as anywhere else, with GPS clock-in, welfare check-calls and a live occurrence log in the client app.
