The IG area runs from Barking and Dagenham in the south, through Ilford and the Redbridge suburbs, up to Loughton on the edge of Epping Forest. It is one of the busiest parts of outer east London for development. Barking Riverside and the land along the Thames have seen large housing schemes, and there is continuing regeneration in Ilford town centre, which now has the Elizabeth line. Industrial estates and trade parks line the A13 and the River Roding, serving the logistics and building trades for much of east London. Ilford and Barking also have dense high streets, with supermarkets and discount stores that see regular shoplifting, while Loughton is a quieter, more affluent town on the Central line.
