The DY area runs from the heart of the Black Country out to the Worcestershire countryside. Dudley, Tipton and Brierley Hill grew on metal-working and heavy engineering, and they still have large numbers of small factories, fabrication shops and industrial estates, many within reach of junctions 2 to 4 of the M5. Brierley Hill is home to a large out-of-town shopping centre and retail parks, and Stourbridge has a long glassmaking heritage alongside a busy town centre. Further west, Kidderminster is historically a carpet-making town with a substantial retail and industrial base, while Stourport-on-Severn and Bewdley sit on the River Severn and draw visitors, particularly in summer.
A good number of officers in our partner network live in the DY area, which makes it practical to staff regular guarding contracts in the Black Country towns and Kidderminster. We have not yet completed booked work here through the platform, so each request is arranged through the network and confirmed by the 24/7 control room before it starts. Officers working Black Country and Wyre Forest sites carry the SIA licence for their duties and have passed BS 7858 vetting. Dudley, Tipton and Stourbridge are the easiest places to staff, with many network officers living within a short drive. Kidderminster is reached via the A456 and A449, and Stourport-on-Severn and Bewdley sit just beyond it on the Severn. Cleobury Mortimer, on the Shropshire side, is more rural and may take longer to cover, so the control room will be clear about timings. For larger contracts, the control room can also draw officers from neighbouring Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
