BR is the south-east London borough of Bromley plus Swanley just over the Kent border. Bromley town centre is a major retail destination with shopping centres, a pedestrianised high street and offices, while Beckenham and Orpington have their own busy high streets and plenty of residential development. St Mary Cray and the Cray Valley hold industrial estates and trade businesses, and Swanley sits on the M25 and A20, with warehouses and depots that benefit from the motorway access. Much of the borough is suburban, with green belt land on its southern edge.
