Security in Oldham

The OL area covers the north-eastern edge of Greater Manchester and runs up into the Pennine valleys. Oldham, Rochdale and Ashton-under-Lyne are former cotton towns, and many of their large mill buildings now house warehousing, light industry and small businesses, or stand empty awaiting conversion. The M62 crosses the area near Rochdale and Heywood, where distribution parks have grown beside the motorway, and the M60 passes close to Oldham and Ashton. Further north, Whitworth and Bacup sit in the Rossendale valley, and Todmorden lies on the West Yorkshire border, with steep sites and narrow access roads.

That history shapes the security work here: large older buildings, vacant mills, distribution sheds, retail parks and town-centre regeneration. Officers in our partner network who live locally are matched to bookings, each holding the SIA licence required and screened to BS 7858. We have not yet completed shifts in OL, so the control room confirms every booking in full before it is accepted. During the shift, the client app shows GPS clock-in, welfare check-calls and the officer's live occurrence log. Officers check older buildings carefully, as access points are often numerous and hard to see.
